Our Winter Storm THREAT continues for Christmas Night into Wednesday. I have no changes to my initial line of thinking or areas most at risk of getting in on a round of heavy snow. The entire picture will clear up a bit later today into Monday as the models hone in on the EXACT track of the initial low pressure.<\/p>\n<p>The latest runs of the models have edged back eastward a bit. The GFS is the farthest west of the entire model suite with the lead low into central Kentucky. It now has no friends and that&#8217;s usually\u00a0 a bad sign for that model. The rest of the models take the first low into the Tennessee Valley toward far eastern Kentucky and West Virginia before giving way to a stronger low in the mid atlantic states.<\/p>\n<p>The European Model &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5278\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5278\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5278\" alt=\"Euro\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Euro24.png\" width=\"595\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Euro24.png 595w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Euro24-300x153.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS Ensembles mean isn&#8217;t as far west as the Operational GFS, but it&#8217;s farther west than the other models&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5279\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5279\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5279\" alt=\"GFS\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/GFS25.png\" width=\"496\" height=\"529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/GFS25.png 496w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/GFS25-281x300.png 281w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 496px) 100vw, 496px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Model transfers the energy to the primary low much quicker and offers up a much colder and snowier scenario for many&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5280\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5280\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5280\" alt=\"Canadian\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Canadian11.png\" width=\"577\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Canadian11.png 577w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Canadian11-300x122.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 577px) 100vw, 577px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The UKMET is very similar&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5281\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5281\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5281\" alt=\"UKMET\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/UKMET2.png\" width=\"310\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/UKMET2.png 310w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/UKMET2-300x233.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 310px) 100vw, 310px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The exact track of the lead low will determine who gets in on the heaviest snow and who gets rain to end as snow with only a light accumulation. My initial threat map remains unchanged for now&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5274\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5274\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Special\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Special4.png\" width=\"511\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will adjust as needed later today with updates. Lost in the shuffle of all this is the fact this will be another very windy storm.
