We have a clipper brushing the state today as we slowly get back into a much more active pattern over the next few weeks, at least. While individual snow systems are hard to track until a few days out, the overall frigid winter pattern is locked in.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s clipper brings most of the snow north of the Ohio River, but this will brush the north and northeast with some flake action. I suppose some very light accumulations will be possible, but don&#8217;t hold your breath on anything more than that.<\/p>\n<p>By evening, a few flakes may even fly all the way into southeastern Kentucky as the system departs. I will have your tracking tools in a bit.<\/p>\n<p>Another system then drops in here from the north Monday night and Tuesday, and it looks to miss hooking up with a southern storm system. Since those two stay separate enough, only a touch of light snow looks to show up around here&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FJwq_AAXIAE4Ync?format=jpg&amp;name=large\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s another big dip in the jet stream late in the week that will also have to be watched for possibly firing up a bigger system in the east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FJw6mlIX0AEeO04?format=png&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The overall temperature pattern for the week ahead continues to see our region in the deep freeze with well below normal temperatures&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FJw6mlFX0AEb_0C?format=png&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a little torn on what to do with February as I think we can get some of the worst of December and January to show up. The latest CFS for February shows a continuation of well below normal temps across our area&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FJw6mlIWQAYA-Lc?format=png&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The control run for that same time period is even colder looking&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FJw6mlMXMAIY6GR?format=png&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll be ready for spring by then, so ugh. &#x1f61c;<\/p>\n<p>Another update comes your way later today.
