Good Sunday, folks. Our growing season has effectively come to an end with back to back mornings with frost and freezing conditions. Asta la vista, baby. As we look into the week ahead, we have some big changes that may also fire up some pretty good storms before things turn cold again.<\/p>\n

Let us start with the precious present. Temps this morning are in the upper 20s and low 30s to start with highs mainly in the 60s this afternoon. This fall has been amazing, y’all!<\/p>\n

The new week starts with 30s Monday morning with temps rebounding quickly on a southwest wind kicking in during the afternoon. Highs hit the 70s area wide and then stay there Tuesday and Wednesday as we watch a storm system gather steam in the plains. That brings an increase in showers and storms to the region through Thursday and Thursday night and there’s even the potential for a few strong storms with this…<\/p>\n

Much colder air sweeps in behind that for Friday into the following weekend. Another sharp cold front is likely to follow that up early in the following week…<\/p>\n

These frequent dips in the jet stream continue to funnel in some very cold shots for this time of year. The frequency of these shots is what’s getting my attention as it appears the coldest air in the Northern Hemisphere continues to be on our side of the pole and that’s usually a good sign for winter lovers.<\/p>\n

The increasing threat for early season flakes continues to show up on many of the medium range and seasonal models. The latest EURO weeklies go through November 20th and suggest we have seen flakes on more than one occasion by then…<\/p>\n
