More winter talk here in a bit. Let’s start with the nice stuff we have out there today.
Temps will warm well into the 60s for central and eastern Kentucky as the west tops the 70 degree mark. Skies will me mostly sunny with a few high clouds during the late afternoon hours.
A blizzard is raging across parts of the rockies right now and this system will come rolling eastward toward the Ohio Valley later Thursday. It will weaken as it does so and will also lose a lot of its cold weather attributes.
Rain will work slowly eastward during the day Thursday. Temps will be tough to gauge because of the timing of the rain into any one particular area. Highs in the east may hit the low 60s before the rain moves in. Once it starts raining… temps will cool quickly toward the high 40s and low 50s.
The NAM and GFS both show this low working southeastward across the region, but differ slightly on the placement on the heaviest rain axis…

The rain will move out VERY quickly Thursday night and early Friday as the low works to our east. Highs will rebound into the upper 50s and low 60s with sunshine returning. This will set us up for a fantastic weather weekend as we get in on some Indian Summer conditions. Temps will soar well into the 60s under sunny skies.
The weather next week will feature a weak front working in by Monday with our next threat for some scattered showers. This front should put the brakes on across the Tennessee Valley allowing for a big storm to form by the middle of next week. We should be on the mild side of this and this may be a heavy rain and thunderstorm maker for parts of our region.
Again… enjoy the mild first half of the month as I continue to see strong indications of an early start to winter showing up during the last few weeks of November.
