Good Saturday evening to one and all. Your friendly weatherdude is in between his daughter’s Christmas piano recital and her performance in the Nutcracker. Yes… it’s a busy day and we have a busy weather pattern that is just getting started.

A FLOOD WATCH has been issued for much of western and central Kentucky from Sunday PM through Tuesday AM. Here’s a look…



This is where the heaviest rains will fall over the next few days and totals map approach 5″ in some areas. There is already river flooding ongoing in much of this area and the additional heavy rain will create a potentially serious problem.

Central and eastern Kentucky will be on the cusp of the initial surge of the heaviest rain and won’t get into the real deal rain action until Monday night and Tuesday. The farther east you live… the slower the rains will be to move in over the next few days. I suspect watches will be extended into these areas as we get into early in the week.

I still expect a switch to snow at some point from Tuesday night through Wednesday night. When this happens and how much it gives us will have to be ironed out as we get a little closer.

The big arctic plunge is on tap for next weekend with a good shot at accumulating snows during this time.

Cold is the name of the game  over the next few weeks…
