It&#8217;s a cold, but sunny day across the state as we continue to focus on the holiday week ahead of us. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and a big storm system looks to impact the region during the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>We are coming off a frigid morning across the state as temps dropped to near 10 degrees in a few spots&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It doesn\u2019t get much colder than this in the middle of November. The Kentucky Mesonet shows several spots pushint 10 degrees for a low this morning. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/kywx?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#kywx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/f3H6Ejdrq7\">pic.twitter.com\/f3H6Ejdrq7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chris Bailey (@Kentuckyweather) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Kentuckyweather\/status\/1593997714164957187?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 19, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>A few spots may sneak into the high single digits tonight. Wow.<\/p>\n<p>As far as the Thanksgiving Weekend is concerned, I have no changes to my idea of a big storm system in the east. It&#8217;s one that likely starts with rain and wind before going over to cold and some flake action.<\/p>\n<p>The latest Canadian goes straight toward the deep trough in the east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Canadian-30.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55868\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Canadian-30.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The surface map isn&#8217;t too far away from what I&#8217;ve been talking about&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Canadian-2-8.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55867\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Canadian-2-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I warned you in my last post some more wild model swings could still take place and, of course, it&#8217;s the GFS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GFS-40.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55870\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GFS-40.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Death, taxes and the GFS being different from every other model are the only certainties in life.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also something interesting coming down the road as we close the book on November and start December. What could it be? Snowstorm? Blizzard? Record cold?<\/p>\n<p>How about a tropical system in the Carribean&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Canadian-9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55869\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Canadian-9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"966\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While not the norm for this time of year, it&#8217;s also not unheard of. A few of my analog years for the winter forecast even had a storm.<\/p>\n<p>And for the record, this isn&#8217;t in the same position as Nicole to back up the pattern.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll update again later today.
