Good afternoon, folks. It’s full steam ahead into Thanksgiving week and we continue to track a big storm system toward the region and it’s likely to become a high impact system for much of the eastern half of the country.<\/p>\n

If you’re a regular reader, you know I’ve been on this storm potential for a week or so by this point. My breakdown from last night hasn’t changed, but the models have.<\/p>\n

The GFS decided to return to reality instead of vacationing in Mexico. Check out the trough bowling through here…<\/p>\n

While it’s a million times better than it’s prior runs, I still think that might be a bit too fast swinging that MAJOR upper level system through here. At the surface, the GFS now cranks one heck of a low pressure…<\/p>\n

You can see how the model is doing what I said to watch for… Rain increasing Thanksgiving with rain and snow following it up on Black Friday.<\/p>\n

With a deep storm like that, wind would be an issue locally and across the east. Check out the peak wind gusts coming from the GFS…<\/p>\n

Think that’s gonna cause some travel delays?<\/p>\n

The Canadian Model has a similar bowling ball looking upper system swinging through here…<\/p>\n

Once that moves away, temps rebound into early the following week as we get set for more active weather. Check out the additional energy rolling in from the west…<\/p>\n

Patterns like that can sometimes produce strong thunderstorms ahead of cold blasts.<\/p>\n
