I&#8217;m dropping by for another update on the severe threat for Tuesday and where the pattern goes from there. Hint: Things continue to progress toward a very cold look as we head into the middle of December.<\/p>\n<p>The Storm Prediction Center has made no substantial changes to the Tuesday severe threat&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/public\/state\/images\/KY_swody2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Damaging wind is the primary threat and I could see this being extended just a bit farther east Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>A low tornado threat continues to be noted across the western half of the state with a much greater risk into the Lower Mississippi Valley&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/SPC.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56176\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/SPC.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"386\" height=\"339\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/SPC.png 386w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/SPC-300x263.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 386px) 100vw, 386px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With or without storms, winds are a major player around here. This animation shows the actual temps from 1am Wednesday through 1am Thursday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/NAM-2-3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56173\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/NAM-2-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wind chills be will be much colder, so keep that in mind.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday is a seasonably cold day with a bounce back in temps on Friday as another cold front drops in from the northwest. This brings showers in here late Friday into Saturday as colder air returns&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GFS-66.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56181\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GFS-66.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another storm system likely fires up by Sunday and Monday and that could put down a lot of wind and rain around here before cold air crashes in. I&#8217;ve talked about this extensively and the models continue to show this next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GFS-2-35.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56180\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GFS-2-35.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I still don&#8217;t think this is the real deal cold, through. That&#8217;s likely to show up the following week and matches up with my middle of December timeframe. The EURO Ensembles for December 12th show the pattern I&#8217;ve had in my mind since late summer. Those massive blocks over Greenland and near Alaska continue to pull toward one another, forcing deep troughs diving in here&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/EURO-22.png\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56170\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/EURO-22.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"968\" height=\"763\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/EURO-22.png 968w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/EURO-22-300x236.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/EURO-22-768x605.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 968px) 100vw, 968px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Blocks like that typically force the coldest air in the Northern Hemisphere, relative to normal, into the eastern US and Europe.
