Mild winds continue to blow across the state as we track a storm system toward the state. This looks to end 2022 out on a wet note with a bigger storm set to follow that up early in the new year.<\/p>\n<p>Clouds are thickening across the region with a shower or two going up in the west. That&#8217;s crazy!<\/p>\n<p>Showers will increase in the west and a few could sneak into central Kentucky. That&#8217;s ahead of more widespread showers and some storms kick in Friday night into Saturday, but the heaviest rains look to exit by the time the clock strikes 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The future radar from the Hi Res NAM shows what I&#8217;m talking about. This animation starts at 1pm Friday and goes through 12am Sunday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/NAM-13.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-57243\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/NAM-13.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The setup for the early week storm continues to indicate the potential for a line of strong to severe storms late Monday into early Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center continues to have the west in the severe threat during this time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/exper\/day4-8\/day5prob.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Take a look at the lightning forecast from the EURO&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/EURO-2-22.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-57245\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/EURO-2-22.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This happens as low pressure works northward through the Mississippi Valley Monday into Tuesday. That drags a cold front into the region, slowing it down by Wednesday. That would allow for another low to pop along the front.
