Gusty winds are beginning to crank across the region and will grow stronger overnight. This is ahead of a major surge of spring temps for Wednesday and a severe weather threat for Wednesday night and Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Winds tonight will reach 40mph-50mph at times with a few showers and thunderstorms. This action is rolling from west to east and will show up on our area radars\u2026<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=dlFZs5IY4VCw7bK\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" usemap=\"#largemap\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Highs of 70-75 will be possible for many on Wednesday and this may set some records in a few cities.<\/p>\n<p>Showers and storms will rumble in here later Wednesday night and early Thursday. Some of these may be strong or severe. We will then focus on the increasing potential for a broken line of strong to severe storms to develop across central Kentucky. These storms may rotate for a while across central Kentucky before losing some steam in the east.<\/p>\n<p>The Future Radar from the HRRR only goes through 1pm Thursday but you can see that Thursday line of storms firing after the early day storms&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/hrrr-2-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58343\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/hrrr-2-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those Thursday afternoon storms will bring a low-end tornado threat&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/hrrr-3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58344\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/hrrr-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s something the Hi Res NAM is also showing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/NAM-8.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58346\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/NAM-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Storm Prediction Center has a low-end threat for severe storms in the west late Wednesday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/public\/state\/images\/KY_swody2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That risk focuses farther east for Thursday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/public\/state\/images\/KY_swody3.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Much colder winds then blow behind this Thursday night and Friday. A few flakes will also be possible.<\/p>\n<p>After a calm weekend, the pattern looks really active again next week as cold air tries to press farther south. I expect lots of different looks from the models on storm tracks.
