We have a storm system that will usher in wet snow and a rain\/snow mix for Wednesday. This will be the beginning of the return of winter that will dominate the rest of the month, and may hang tough into early March.<\/p>\n<p>The track of the storm Wednesday is one that is usually good for accumulating snow across the state. You can see that here on the NAM&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5899\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5899\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5899\" alt=\"NAM\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/NAM1.png\" width=\"574\" height=\"508\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/NAM1.png 574w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/NAM1-300x265.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 574px) 100vw, 574px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This storm will be working into an air mass that&#8217;s marginally cold enough for snow and will have to fight a warm ground. That said&#8230; the NAM still wants to put down some slushy accumulations&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5900\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5900\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5900\" alt=\"NAM 2\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/NAM-2.png\" width=\"531\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/NAM-2.png 531w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/NAM-2-300x189.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px\" \/><\/a>Again&#8230; this is a marginal temperature system and a mix of rain and snow may be the dominant precipitation type unless some dynamic cooling kicks in.<\/p>\n<p>An arctic front pushes into the state on Friday. This will produce snow showers and flurries along the boundary as winds gust up. We may see a storm develop along this front and produce a more pronounced snow system late Friday into Saturday. Some of the latest runs are going crazy with a huge storm. The Canadian is all in&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5904\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5904\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5904\" alt=\"Canadian\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Canadian3.png\" width=\"260\" height=\"802\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Canadian3.png 260w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Canadian3-97x300.png 97w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 260px) 100vw, 260px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That would be something close to the B word around here. The NOGAPS looks similar&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5905\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5905\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5905\" alt=\"nogaps\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/nogaps.png\" width=\"412\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/nogaps.png 412w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/nogaps-300x124.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 412px) 100vw, 412px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS Ensembles are trending toward a big storm developing across the eastern part of the country&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=5906\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5906\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5906\" alt=\"GFS\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/GFS14.png\" width=\"592\" height=\"684\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/GFS14.png 592w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/GFS14-259x300.png 259w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 592px) 100vw, 592px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the flip side of this&#8230; the European Model no longer has a storm anywhere across the east. It was going all in on a big storm a few days ago. The European is the leader of the models and it&#8217;s hard to get excited when it doesn&#8217;t show something. Still&#8230; the model is not infallible.<\/p>\n<p>If that low does not develop&#8230; snow showers and squalls will become widespread at times this weekend and that should produce some accumulations. Highs will run in the 20s and low in the teens as gusty winds crank up and make it feel even colder.<\/p>\n<p>Updates as needed today.
