It&#8217;s a special day for Kentucky Weather Center as we celebrate our 15th birthday!! On our big birthday, we are tracking the threat for strong to severe storms across parts of the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>July 5th, 2008 was the first full post on Kentucky Weather Center&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"ZCe79TI1m7\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?p=1834\">Welcome Bailey&#8217;s Bloggers!<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Welcome Bailey&#8217;s Bloggers!&#8221; &#8212; Kentucky Weather Center with Meteorologist Chris Bailey\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?p=1834&#038;embed=true#?secret=8OECXBnubS#?secret=ZCe79TI1m7\" data-secret=\"ZCe79TI1m7\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I can still remember having a friend proofread that first post before I hit the publish button.<\/p>\n<p>15 years later, this marks post number 8,363 and that averages out to 558 posts per year. KWC has seen a lot in its 15-year lifespan, and it continues to plug along with 10s of millions of visits each year. The amount of traffic this site gets increases from one year to the next and I&#8217;m grateful to all of you. I&#8217;ve always said you&#8217;re the backbone of what we&#8217;ve established here, and I couldn&#8217;t do it without you.<\/p>\n<p>I do have some bigger plans for KWC in the works and that includes a Youtube channel: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/@Kentuckyweather\">https:\/\/youtube.com\/@Kentuckyweather<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Give it a subscription if you like. I&#8217;ll be getting it off the ground here over the next few months. &#x1f60e;<\/p>\n<p>Ok, back to the actual weather. We have a cold front rolling toward the region today and it&#8217;s bringing thunderstorms along for the ride. Some of the storms across the western half of the state could be strong or severe. Here&#8217;s today&#8217;s Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody1.png?1683922326\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A better threat for showers and storms will overspread the region on Thursday with a lingering shower or storm into Friday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/EURO-3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60025\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/EURO-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our window between systems looks smaller today than it did with my last update. Rounds of showers and storms sweep across the state this weekend and take us into Monday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/EURO-2-2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60024\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/EURO-2-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Locally heavy rains and strong storms will be possible with this setup. Temps will once again stay tame and go back to below normal as that upper low spins in through the first part of next week.
