A cold front is rolling through the region early today with much cooler winds kicking in behind it. The overall pattern is trending toward a full-blown fall look as we roll our way into the middle of September.<\/p>\n<p>Our cold front is pushing out of eastern Kentucky early today. It has a few showers and storms along and ahead of it with a mix of sun and clouds behind it. It will also feature some low clouds creeping back in from the northwest during the afternoon and evening. This comes as an upper level low spins across the region and just to our south. This low then spins back at us over the weekend&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-5.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60682\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-5.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Given the orientation of this low, we will be watching the east and southeast for showers and a rumble of thunder coming at us against the grain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-2-2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60681\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-2-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The setup after this features another deep trough digging into the region at the same time Hurricane Lee slowly moves across the western Atlantic. The models are going to have some huge swings in terms of any kind of interaction with this trough and Lee. This also means model disagreements on\u00a0timing and placement of these features.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the Canadian&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-3-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60683\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-3-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GFS-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60684\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/GFS-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Temps around here run much cooler than normal around here and may drop into the 40s for lows before next week is over.<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned, Hurricane Lee is churning toward the west-northwest and will become a major hurricane.
