It&#8217;s another absolutely awesome fall day across the region but some changes are blowing in for the weekend. These changes bring an increasing threat for rain, especially into central and eastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Our morning lows are starting out in the 40s once again. This comes after Thursday morning temps were deeeeeeep in the 40s&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Temps bottomed out in the low and mid 40s this morning. The Kentucky Mesonet site in Cumberland County hit 41 degrees. A shower or two may get awfully close to the far southeastern counties before the day is over\u2026<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-wrap\">\n<div class=\"post-content entry-content\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=dlFZs5IY4VCw7bK\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" usemap=\"#largemap\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Another big bowling ball upper level system swings eastward across the region Saturday and Sunday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-12.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60774\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-12.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This brings some showers and a rumble of thunder to the region on Saturday with the best chance across the eastern half of the state. This action comes in from southwest to northeast.<\/p>\n<p>By the time we hit Sunday, wraparound showers, gusty winds and fairly cool temps will be common&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-2-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60773\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Canadian-2-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the same time, we continue to track Hurricane Lee heading toward the northeastern US and Nova Scotia&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.star.nesdis.noaa.gov\/GOES16\/ABI\/SECTOR\/eus\/13\/GOES16-EUS-13-1000x1000.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This storm is moving into cooler waters and should weaken some, but Tropical Storm Warnings and Hurricane Watches are out for a lot of real estate&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/storm_graphics\/AT13\/refresh\/AL132023_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind+png\/145817_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind.png\" alt=\"cone graphic\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead toward winter, our developing El Nino will be one of the main players on the weather field, but it&#8217;s impact really isn&#8217;t known yet. With oceans across the globe now much warmer than normal, the temps of the equatorial Pacific Ocean likely don&#8217;t have the same impact they had before.<\/p>\n<p>This El Nino is likely moderate to strong by the winter with the focus of the warmer waters migrating westward into region 3.4&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/JAMSTEC-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60768\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/JAMSTEC-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"735\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/JAMSTEC-2.png 735w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/JAMSTEC-2-300x208.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 735px) 100vw, 735px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The placement of the warmest waters typically bodes well for winter lovers in our region. But is that still the case with this new climate? That remains to be seen, but the seasonal models are pretty much all on board with a trough in our region for the winter ahead. That&#8217;s certainly the pattern we&#8217;ve been in since late spring, so it&#8217;s interesting to see the models keeping it going.<\/p>\n<p>The latest JAMSTEC forecast for temps shows colder than normal for our region into much of the east and southeast&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Jamstec.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60767\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Jamstec.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Jamstec.png 444w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Jamstec-300x205.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 444px) 100vw, 444px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Look at all those warmer than normal temps from the west coast through Canada and into the arctic. That suggests blocking showing up in those areas with a trough in the east. That&#8217;s also what we see coming from the latest JMA winter forecast. Look at this winter trough in the east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/JMA.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60769\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/JMA.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"373\" height=\"369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/JMA.png 373w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/JMA-300x297.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 373px) 100vw, 373px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a very interesting look that should make for a fun winter around these parts.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great Friday and take care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good Friday to one and all.
