Good Friday, folks. Hit and run rains are working quickly across parts of the state early today. This gets out of town quickly, leaving behind normal November temps into the weekend. Beyond all this comes a pattern that’s in transition toward an eventual colder setup later in the month. The timing on that is the tricky part.<\/p>\n

Today’s rains are mainly impacting southern and southeastern Kentucky, and will only be around early this morning. Bye the afternoon, sunshine is taking control of the entire state from northwest to southeast.<\/p>\n

Highs are generally in the 50s for most but a few spots in the southeast may not get out of the upper 40s if clouds linger a little deeper into the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Our weekend looks really good with highs well into the 50s with a mix of sun and clouds. Overnight lows reach the upper 20s to middle 30s.<\/p>\n

Temps slowly climb a bit early next week as our flow becomes more southerly. This is ahead of an upper-level system that may have a Gulf of Mexico connection with it to bring some rain in here by Wednesday and Thursday…<\/p>\n

After this system, the models are a muddled mess with some drastic swings from one model run to another.<\/p>\n

Looking into winter, the latest EURO seasonal forecast is out and is pretty much on board with my thinking for the winter ahead.<\/p>\n

December is a transitional month as blocking across Canada slowly comes together with some undercutting across the lower 48…<\/p>\n

January finds the trough setting up across the eastern half of the country as a big ridge develops from the Pacific northwest north to Alaska…<\/p>\n

That same general pattern continues into February…<\/p>\n

Taken verbatim, the EURO Seasonal Model brings us below normal temps and above normal snowfall. Hmm.<\/p>\n
