It&#8217;s a blustery day with a few snowflakes flying across parts of the region. This is behind a clipper system that&#8217;s zipping away from us. As this moves away, we get set for a much bigger system set to blast in here for the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned, some flakes are flying early today, especially in the east and southeast. There&#8217;s even the chance for a coating or so to show up in the high ground along the Virginia border. One low develops and heads toward the Great Lakes, dragging a cold front into the region by Saturday night. That&#8217;s when another low or two develops along this boundary and strengthen on the way to the north and northeast. How far east does this front get before these lows develop? That&#8217;s something the models are still working through and are changing a bit from run to run.<\/p>\n<p>The latest trend among the models is for a farther east and colder solution and that&#8217;s similar to what they initially had several days ago.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian and Euro models are twinning right now as they both develop two lows just to our east Saturday night and Sunday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Canadian<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/CANADIAN-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62281\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/CANADIAN-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>EURO<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/EURO-9.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62286\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/EURO-9.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll personally take an increase in the flakes as opposed to any strong thunderstorm activity.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS is back to its progressive bias, but that&#8217;s also an indication the model agrees with what the others are showing in its own way&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/GFS-8.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62282\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/GFS-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Looking beyond this system, we are likely seeing colder than normal temps setting up into the week before the week before Christmas. The GFS Ensembles have flipped to showing below normal temps&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/GFS-9.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62284\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/GFS-9.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will have another update later today.
