It’s full steam ahead toward a very active weekend of weather across Kentucky. Strong to severe storms will be with us Saturday and Saturday evening with the chance for some Sunday flakes to go along with crashing temps.

I have no changes to the thoughts I’ve had out for several days now. The threat for strong to severe storms is there for Saturday with the Storm Prediction Center showing a Marginal to Slight Risk across much of the state…

Don’t be surprised if that Slight Risk isn’t pushed a little farther northeast with future updates.

The prime time for severe weather will be from mid-afternoon through the middle of the evening as storms develop and roll to the east and northeast.

Damaging wind is the main threat…

There’s the chance for a few rotating storms showing up, especially for south central Kentucky. This is the area with the best chance for seeing a quick tornado spin up…

The large hail threat is also there for some…

The future radar from the HRRR shows our storms ramping up west of Interstate 65 during the early afternoon, then rolling east of Interstate 75 by the early evening…

Another band of rain develops with the Saturday night low pressure and impacts the eastern half of the state. That should end as some flakes in the east and southeast as colder air crashes in. A northwest flow then throws a few flakes into central and eastern Kentucky Sunday afternoon and evening.
