A wintry mix of rain and snow is moving into the region overnight and early Saturday and some of us will see a light snowfall. This system kicks off a very active weather pattern over the next few weeks, at least.<\/p>\n<p>A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for late tonight and early Saturday. Here&#8217;s a look at the area currently included&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/1-MAP-8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63049\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/1-MAP-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"424\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think that should include northern Kentucky and the northeastern corner of the state.<\/p>\n<p>My Latest Call For Snowfall looks like this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/2-MAP-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63056\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/2-MAP-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"731\" height=\"428\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a chance for some areas to overachieve in the north with a chance to underachieve around I-64 and south. That&#8217;s why I have pretty low totals. You only have a few hours window to get in on sticking snow and that&#8217;s early in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>The future radar from the HRRR continues to be the most friendly to snow lovers&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/hrrr-3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63045\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/hrrr-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are the totals from that run and, once again, this is likely overdone&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/hrrr.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63051\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/hrrr.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"961\" height=\"757\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The EURO looks like this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/EURO-7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63053\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/EURO-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"967\" height=\"755\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS is also on board for a little thumper snow for some&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/GFS-snow-6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63052\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/GFS-snow-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"966\" height=\"755\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Obviously, I&#8217;m not buying into these higher totals, but it would only take one degree colder air to give us those numbers.<\/p>\n<p>The next storm system is a doozy for Monday night through Wednesday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/GFS-2-4.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63058\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/GFS-2-4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A mix to heavy rain with 50mph hour wind gusts will be possible Monday night and Tuesday with a switch to some accumulating snow Tuesday night and Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>I will throw you another update late this evening.
