As the snow SLOWLY melts away, the focus turns toward rounds of heavy rain moving into the region. This starts later Tuesday and rolls into the weekend, and we may be talking about high water issues.<\/p>\n<p>This heavy rain potential has been outlined here on KWC for the past several days and my thoughts remain unchanged&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/SPECIAL-MAP-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63437\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/SPECIAL-MAP-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"969\" height=\"589\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/SPECIAL-MAP-2.png 969w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/SPECIAL-MAP-2-300x182.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/SPECIAL-MAP-2-768x467.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 969px) 100vw, 969px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a general 1&#8243;-3&#8243; of rain across Kentucky, but the potential is there for some 4&#8243;+ totals to show up. The GFS now lingers this into the start of February&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/GFS-2-21.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63465\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/GFS-2-21.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think the start of February is likely warmer, but the window for that is getting shorter as we get closer. I&#8217;m on board with the potential for another, possibly longer, harsh winter pattern around here and for much of the eastern half of the country as we deeper into February.<\/p>\n<p>The CFS is showing the major block going up in the high latitudes which sets all this in motion.
