Our Winter Storm THREAT continues from this evening into early Tuesday morning. Rain will change to a thumping snow for parts of the state, but the location of this continues to be a work in progress.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown:<\/p>\n<h2>TODAY<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Things start dry with clouds thickening from south to north.<\/li>\n<li>Rain arrives from the southwest this afternoon.<\/li>\n<li>Temps may reach 50 degrees in a few spots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>THIS EVENING<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Low pressure works from central Tennessee to West Virginia.<\/li>\n<li>Rain switches to snow from southwest to northeast behind the track of the low.<\/li>\n<li>A swath of moderate to heavy wet snow is likely to trail the low.<\/li>\n<li>Bands like this can put down a thumper of a snowfall for areas getting under them.<\/li>\n<li>Several inches of snow will be possible within this band.<\/li>\n<li>Pinpointing exactly where this band sets up is the challenge of the day.<\/li>\n<li>Snowfall rates will overcome mild ground and road temps.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NOT EVERYONE GETS A LOT OF SNOW FROM THIS.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>TUESDAY<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Morning snow quickly pulls way from eastern Kentucky.<\/li>\n<li>Sun and clouds take over with temps likely topping 40 for most areas.<\/li>\n<li>Whatever snow falls will melt pretty quickly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a look at my current thinking on where the best chance for accumulating snows will be tonight&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/1-MAP-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-63911\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/1-MAP-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"732\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/1-MAP-1.png 732w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/1-MAP-1-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 732px) 100vw, 732px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That will likely change through the day as this system comes into better focus. I will put out a First Call For Snowfall at some point before the snow starts. Y&#8217;all know if I haven&#8217;t put out a call map, yet, then you know it&#8217;s a tough forecast.<\/p>\n<p>The latest forecast models are still jumping around a bit with where the track of the heavy snow band sets up.<\/p>\n<p>The EURO targets more central and eastern Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/EURO-13.png\"><img
