It&#8217;s a brief cold shot kicking in across the state today, but even this isn&#8217;t too bad. Once into the new week, much milder winds kick in with another serious surge of spring temps returning to the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>Temps today start in the upper 20s to low 30s and only reach the 40s across central and eastern Kentucky. This is on a strong northwesterly wind flow that may also spit out an early morning rain or snow shower in the north and east.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the area misses out on this, but your radars are on duty to follow along&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=dlFZs5IY4VCw7bK\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"jetpack-lazy-image jetpack-lazy-image--handled lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" usemap=\"#largemap\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" \/><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Temps start cold on Monday with mid and upper 20s for many. Those mild winds kick in by the afternoon with temps hitting the 50s for central and eastern Kentucky with the 60s in the west.<\/p>\n<p>The 60s overtake the rest of the state Tuesday and may flirt with 70 on Wednesday. The 70s then flex on us by Thursday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/EURO-9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-64382\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/EURO-9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"961\" height=\"758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/EURO-9.png 961w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/EURO-9-300x237.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/EURO-9-768x606.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 961px) 100vw, 961px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is ahead of what appears to be a fairly significant pattern change as winter tries to flex one last time. How this flex transpires is a work in progress, though.<\/p>\n<p>One storm system moves in here by Friday with showers and some thunderstorms. Does the cold crash in behind this or wait for another system to fully unlock it later next weekend and early the following week? The GFS thinks the latter&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/GFS-8.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-64380\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/GFS-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian goes about it in a slightly different way&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Canadian-7.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-64379\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Canadian-7.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Regardless, very cold temps for the second half of March will likely come calling.
