Good Monday, everyone. Kentucky Derby week is here and it’s all eyes on the bluegrass state. The biggest question of the week is… who will win the Derby? The second biggest question of the week is… how’s the Derby weekend weather looking? I can’t answer the first one, but can give you a little more insight on the second question.<\/p>\n
Let’s start with where we are today.<\/p>\n
Temps will head toward 70 in central and eastern Kentucky and into the 70s in the west. A scattered shower or thunderstorm will be possible.<\/p>\n
Tuesday into Wednesday will see thermometers take off. Highs will soar to around 80 degrees under a partly sunny sky and just a small threat for a boomer.<\/p>\n
Thursday will see some big changes working in from the west. The pattern continues to favor a big cut off low pressure developing across the region by late week into the weekend. As I’ve mentioned before… tracking exactly where that sets up will be crucial in determining just how ugly our weather can get. The latest GFS looks pretty darn nasty…<\/p>\n
