Good Friday, everyone. A super-stormy week is wrapping up across Kentucky with one more day of strong to severe storms. From here, we see a pattern likely to turn more typical of early August, complete with a tropical system around Florida.<\/p>\n

Before we look ahead, let’s take a quick look back at the month of July’s temps. This was a really tame temperature month for Kentucky and surrounding areas with temps near normal and even below normal across the western part of the state…<\/p>\n

Not too shabby for summertime in Kentucky!<\/p>\n

Ok, let’s get back to the weather out there today. We have a cold front moving in from the northwest and it’s producing more in the way of showers and thunderstorms. The storms that go up today may be more scattered when compared to the big complexes of the past several days, but some of those storms may be strong or severe.<\/p>\n

The Storm Prediction Center has the greatest risk of severe storms across the eastern half of the state…<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Areas of wind damage will be the main threat.<\/p>\n

Any storm that’s out there may also feature enough rain to cause local high water issues.<\/p>\n

An upper level system spins through here tonight and into Saturday and that can still spawn a few showers and storms, mainly in the east…<\/p>\n

Temps steam up again by Sunday as skies finally dry out. Those steamy temps continue into the first half of next week with what happens after that a bit of a question mark. That’s because of a developing tropical system expected to develop this weekend in the eastern Gulf of Mexico…<\/p>\n

That should become a named storm as it hugs the Gulf Coast of Florida. That may cross Florida then hang around the southeastern seaboard into early next week. Here are the spaghetti plots showing the various hurricane models…<\/p>\n

At the same time this system tries to ride the east coast, a big blast of much cooler than normal temps looks to take hold of much of the country for the second half of next week…<\/p>\n
