We are sending the month out on a busy note as a strong cold front rolls across the state. This front brings the threat a few strong to severe storms and unleashes a much cooler pattern to start September.

Scattered storms will be noted early today with an increase in the action this afternoon and evening. Just like in recent days, storms will be loaded with lightning and torrential rains. These storms may also go severe at times, bringing a damaging wind and large hail threat along for the ride.

Here’s today’s Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

These storms will impact outdoor activities and may impact a few college football games today, so keep that in mind.

This front doesn’t fully cross the region until Sunday and that means a few more showers and storms, especially in southern Kentucky. Much cooler air then comes in behind this front with Labor Day looking amazing! Highs will range from the mid 70s to the low 80s with low humidity and a great looking sky.

Temps by the time we reach Tuesday morning may sneak into the upper 40s across parts of central and eastern Kentucky. Bring it!

Things remain really pleasant until a southern system tries to bring a few showers in here later Wednesday and Thursday. This is ahead of a much bigger system dropping in here late this week into the weekend. This setup can bring a healthy round of rain before a major push of fall air…

Temps going WELL below normal are possible…

If that kind of setup verifies, it would bring about a very early Pot of Chili ALERT.
