We are watching the weather go in reverse this week as a tropical system moves into the Carolinas today and heads toward the west. This system likely brings rain into the eastern half of the state over the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>This system has been well advertised here on KWC as it&#8217;s been on our radar for nearly a week now. The current satellite loop shows how quickly this system is coming together today just offshore from Myrtle Beach&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.star.nesdis.noaa.gov\/GOES16\/ABI\/SECTOR\/eus\/GEOCOLOR\/GOES16-EUS-GEOCOLOR-1000x1000.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This should become Tropical Storm Helene before coming ashore late today or tonight near Myrtle Beach. The center then rolls toward the southern Appalachian Mountains through Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the latest information and track forecast from the National Hurricane Center&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/storm_graphics\/AT08\/refresh\/AL082024_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind+png\/205804_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind.png\" alt=\"cone graphic\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my current thinking on who has the best chance to pick up on some of the tropical rains from this system&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/SPECIAL-MAP-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66263\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/SPECIAL-MAP-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"987\" height=\"583\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/SPECIAL-MAP-2.png 987w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/SPECIAL-MAP-2-300x177.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/SPECIAL-MAP-2-768x454.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 987px) 100vw, 987px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NAM actually brings the remnant low all the way into eastern Kentucky, thus, keeping some showers spinning into Wednesday night. This animation goes from this afternoon through Wednesday evening&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/NAM-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66264\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/NAM-6.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That would bring the best rains through eastern Kentucky with some showers going farther west toward Interstate 65.<\/p>\n<p>Other models aren&#8217;t as far west with this system. Here&#8217;s the GFS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/GFS-4.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66267\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/GFS-4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The pattern remains very blocky and there&#8217;s the chance for another system to develop in the Gulf or off the southeastern seaboard.
