Good Thursday and Happy Halloween!! Gusty winds are cranking out there today as we await the arrival of a strong fall cold front. This front brings rain and some thunderstorms in here through the day and this will impact trick or treating for much of the area.<\/p>\n

Winds are a major player today with gusts that may reach 40mph at times, especially in central and western Kentucky.<\/p>\n

Showers and storms roll across western Kentucky this morning into the afternoon then get into central Kentucky during the evening. That’s going to impact trick or treating in these areas. the farther east you are in Kentucky, the better the chance we get through the candy getting hours without any rain.<\/p>\n

Some of the storms across central and western Kentucky may even be strong or locally severe. The Storm Prediction Center continues with a low-end risk for severe storms in this area…<\/p>\n

Damaging wind is the main threat we are facing.<\/p>\n

Streaks of locally heavy rains continue to show up on the forecast models with the chance for some 1″+ amounts for parts of Kentucky.<\/p>\n

Lingering showers across eastern and southeastern Kentucky will move away Friday morning with a seasonable wind blowing on the first day of November.<\/p>\n

The weekend finds temps climbing once again as we get set to fall back. Standard Time returns at 2am Sunday, so set those clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The clocks fall back, but the thermometers spring forward with highs in the 70s. Those 70s take us into Monday and Election Day as a strong southwest wind kicks in ahead of our next system. This system rolls through here late on Tuesday into Wednesday with showers and the chance for thunderstorms.<\/p>\n

This likely kicks off a much more active pattern into the first week or so of November. How all this works out continues to be a work in progress, obviously.<\/p>\n

The potential tropical system showing up on those models continues to be from a disturbance down in the Caribbean. This is the area the National Hurricane Center continues to highlight for possible development…<\/p>\n
