Heavy rain is taking center stage as another storm system impacts the region through Thursday. From there, it&#8217;s all eyes on a developing winter pattern starting around the middle of next week into Thanksgiving week.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s not much more to say about the heavy rain and thunder rolling across Kentucky. Most of us pick up 1&#8243;-2&#8243; of rain with locally higher amounts possible. Here&#8217;s the latest from the National Hurricane Center..<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/storm_graphics\/AT19\/refresh\/AL192024_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind+png\/205755_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind.png\" alt=\"cone graphic\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That system should eventually get into the Gulf of Mexico, but what happens with it after that point is a work in progress.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, my thoughts on the pattern ahead hasn&#8217;t changed. Significant blocking will lead us into a favorable pattern for cold and some flake action around here for the second half of next week into the following weekend. That may even extend into Thanksgiving week.<\/p>\n<p>The EURO shows the major blocking to the north and those huge upper lows that spin across the lower 48, especially in the east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-11.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67085\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-11.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That setup means a lot of colder than normal air for many&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-3-3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67087\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-3-3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With upper level systems spinning through the area, some winter weather keeps showing up on the models.
