Good evening, folks. It’s another mild day in the Commonwealth but the focus is quickly turning toward a winter pattern setting up. This delivers the first flakes of the season to parts of the area before the week is over with the chance for a cold turkey week increasing.<\/p>\n

Ok, let’s talk about the chances for winter weather Thursday into Friday. A couple of periods of light snow and flurries will work in from the north Thursday into early Friday. The greatest chance at seeing the flakes is across central and eastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n

Here’s an updated look at the areas with the best chance…<\/p>\n

There’s the chance some of that sticks Thursday night into Friday morning.<\/p>\n

All the models are now in agreement on the whole scenario. The GFS did exactly what I said would happen as it slowed things down and showed up a bit farther west…<\/p>\n

The EURO is similar…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Both of those came around to showing what the Canadian Model never wavered on…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Those three models are all similar in showing the chance for a little sticking snow, especially in the east. Keep in mind, these maps aren’t showing snow depth and instead are showing snowfall. If you had a frozen ground and below freezing temps that would be a different story. Much of this will be melting on contact…<\/p>\n

Wind chills are way down there from late Wednesday into the start of the weekend!<\/p>\n

The pattern for Thanksgiving week into early December is showing more and more winter potential as we get closer. In my last post, I mentioned how arctic air was set to make an early season appearance into the United States and the operational models are now showing and reacting to this.<\/p>\n

The latest GFS shows the winter potential with an active southern storm track…<\/p>\n

Don’t get too excited cause that will change a lot. ha<\/p>\n
