It’s another mild day in the Commonwealth but the focus is quickly turning toward a winter pattern setting up. This delivers the first flakes of the season to parts of the area before the week is over with the chance for a cold turkey week increasing.

Ok, let’s talk about the chances for winter weather Thursday into Friday. A couple of periods of light snow and flurries will work in from the north Thursday into early Friday. The greatest chance at seeing the flakes is across central and eastern Kentucky.

Here’s an updated look at the areas with the best chance…

There’s the chance some of that sticks Thursday night into Friday morning.

All the models are now in agreement on the whole scenario. The GFS did exactly what I said would happen as it slowed things down and showed up a bit farther west…

The EURO is similar…

Both of those came around to showing what the Canadian Model never wavered on…

Those three models are all similar in showing the chance for a little sticking snow, especially in the east. Keep in mind, these maps aren’t showing snow depth and instead are showing snowfall. If you had a frozen ground and below freezing temps that would be a different story. Much of this will be melting on contact…

Festive flake season is here!!!

Winds with this system may gust to 40mph at times.
