We have a better looking day taking shape across the region as we set our sights on a busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend of weather. Rain, some snow and arctic cold are all on the menu for this big holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s kick things off with what&#8217;s happening out there today.<\/p>\n<p>Showers exit far southeastern Kentucky early today with clearing settling in from the west through the day. Y&#8217;all know you&#8217;re excited.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown of the long Thanksgiving weekend&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>WEDNESDAY<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Clouds increase through the day with temps spiking toward 50-55.<\/li>\n<li>Rain develops quickly from southwest to northeast during the evening.<\/li>\n<li>Rain continues at night with the chance for a few flakes in the far north.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>THANKSGIVING<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Gusty showers will be around early in the day with some lingering misty shower action.<\/li>\n<li>A few early day flakes are possible in the north.<\/li>\n<li>Temps hang into the low 40s for much of the day.<\/li>\n<li>A few flurries or snow showers kick in during the night.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>FRIDAY<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A few flurries or snow showers will be noted across central and eastern Kentucky.<\/li>\n<li>I don&#8217;t anticipate anything other than some festive flakes.<\/li>\n<li>Temps struggle to get out of the low 30s for highs.<\/li>\n<li>Wind chills will generally be in the low and middle 20s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>SATURDAY<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s a cold day with temps generally 30-35.<\/li>\n<li>Clouds increase ahead of our next system.<\/li>\n<li>A clipper arrives Saturday night with a band of light snow.<\/li>\n<li>This zips in from west to east.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>SUNDAY<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A light snowfall is possible to start the day. I could see a setup where an inch or two falls for parts of the state.<\/li>\n<li>The light snow maker pushes to our east as arctic air builds in.<\/li>\n<li>Temps may not get out of the 20s for highs.<\/li>\n<li>Gusty winds make it feel like the teens for much of the day.<\/li>\n<li>A few lingering flurries or snow showers will be possible in the east through Sunday night.<\/li>\n<li>Single digit wind chills may show up Sunday night.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In terms of the model forecasts, I like what the Short-Range Canadian Model is doing with the initial system Wednesday through Friday morning&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/CANADIAN-22.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67423\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/CANADIAN-22.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Model then goes on to look similar with the Thanksgiving system and also shows our weekend light snow maker&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/CANADIAN-2-8.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67427\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/CANADIAN-2-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The EURO has settled in with a weaker solution with the lead low and is also pretty good looking with the weekend light snow maker&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-33.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67434\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-33.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Just a few days ago, the GFS had no system impacting our weather for Wednesday and Thursday. It&#8217;s now back with the system and almost matches everything else. It also lost the weekend clipper but is starting to see it again&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/GFS-44.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67426\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/GFS-44.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Temps tank this weekend and into early next week with a few days with highs only in the 20s. Wind chills will be VERY cold and may flirt with zero or a bit below during Sunday and Monday mornings.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian continues to be, by far, the coldest with the wind chill numbers from 7am Friday through 7am Monday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Canadian-2-9.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67430\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Canadian-2-9.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The EURO numbers aren&#8217;t quite as low, but they&#8217;re still frigid&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-3-8.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67433\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-3-8.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The same goes for the GFS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/GFS-45.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67435\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/GFS-45.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Several more systems will likely drop in next week into the following weekend as this exceptionally cold start to December continues&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-2-18.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67432\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-2-18.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Ensembles keep the colder then normal temps coming all the way through the next two weeks&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Canadian-3-2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67436\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Canadian-3-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The long-range EURO Weeiklies now go through the first 9 days of January and show some pretty good snow chances during this time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-21.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-67420\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-21.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"967\" height=\"758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-21.png 967w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-21-300x235.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/EURO-21-768x602.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 967px) 100vw, 967px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll have another update later today.
