Good Monday, folks. We have another light snow and flake maker rolling across Kentucky today and tonight. This puts down some light, fluffy accumulations for many areas. Light is the key word on this one!<\/p>\n

Light snow and flurries develop across Illinois and Indiana and drop southeastward today. The greatest chance to put light accumulations will be across the west and south, but coatings will be possible all the way north of the Lexington area.<\/p>\n

Here’s a look at the latest snowfall outlook…<\/p>\n

I’m going to watch far southeastern Kentucky for a little bit of an upslope component, potentially aiding in some of those snow streaks.<\/p>\n

The future radar from the HRRR is now picking up on the light stuff all the way into parts of central and eastern Kentucky this evening. This stuff doesn’t waste any time zipping through here…<\/p>\n

This follows the lead of the RRFS, which continues to show something similar…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The only one of the “traditional” models seeing this is the latest run of the EURO…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Temps are frigid and reach the mid and upper teens in some areas tonight. Wind chills can push the high single digits to begin Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The next system set to impact our weather is an arctic front sweeping in from the north and northwest late Wednesday into early Thursday. Winds are absolutely going to crank with this front and gusts can reach 40mph at times as the arctic air pours in.<\/p>\n

Can we get some quick-hitting snow showers and squalls along this boundary? I think we can, especially in the east…<\/p>\n

That’s some cold coming in behind that…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

That’s followed up by a system over the weekend as our pattern relaxes for a few days after that. Next week features another deep trough taking shape into the eastern half of the country and may very well be introduced by a hefty storm system.<\/p>\n

The longer range likely features a pretty active southern storm track starting around the holidays and going into the first part of January, at least. The snowfall guidance from the EURO Weeklies continues to indicate an increase in snow threats through this time…<\/p>\n

This winter is likely to be a 180 compared to the past two.<\/p>\n
