Good evening, folks. Light snow is putting down coatings for many areas with a little more possible in spots across the south. I wanted to drop by for a quick update on where things go from here.<\/p>\n

The light stuff this evening can coat a bridge or overpass, so keep that in mind if you’re travelling. Temps behind the light snow turn frigid with lows reaching the teens in several spots as wind chills drop even lower.<\/p>\n

A strong arctic front is ready to blow through here late Wednesday and early Thursday. This brings bitterly cold wind chills, very gusty winds and the chance for a few snow showers and squalls, especially in central and eastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n

The future radar from the NAM\u00a0 is beginning to pick up on this action Wednesday night and early Thursday…<\/p>\n

Temps ahead of the front spike toward 40-45 and then absolutely crash through the 30s, the 20s and into the teens a few hours later. This temp animation goes from 12am to 8am Thursday…<\/p>\n

Wind chills make a run toward 0 and the low single digits in many areas Thursday morning…<\/p>\n

That’s just brutal for early December.<\/p>\n

Temps will climb later in the upcoming weekend as this extreme cold pattern relaxes. I think it does get really cold again with a big storm system next week with much more of a back and forth pattern setting up.<\/p>\n

You can see troughs sweeping eastward through December 17th…<\/p>\n

We can get some pretty big storm systems in this kind of pattern!<\/p>\n
