My time is rather short so I wanted to drop by for an update on the current winter storm that&#8217;s wrapping up and for the one waiting on deck. Let&#8217;s go ahead and call this a Winter Storm THREAT for Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The current storm has the upper low spinning through Kentucky, dropping another 1&#8243;-3&#8243; of snow across central and eastern parts of the state. Gusty winds may create whiteout conditions at times, and this will only add more misery on top of a terrible situation across the region.<\/p>\n<p>Our Winter Storm WARNING continues for many into early this evening&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/x-hv1.pivotalweather.com\/maps\/warnings\/nwshaz.us_ov.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once this system moves away, snow showers and flurries continue to fly across the central and east Tuesday through Thursday. Light accumulations are a good bet with these.<\/p>\n<p>Any night that skies clear will find temps going toward 0 or below with the best chance of this coming Wednesday or Thursday morning. Skies have to clear for that to happen, so let&#8217;s hope snow showers and flurries keep that from happening.<\/p>\n<p>Our next winter storm has a lot of potential as we aren&#8217;t too far away from the models showing a fully phased storm coming out of the Gulf of Mexico and up the east coast.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS is a pretty solid hit around here&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GFS-13.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-68866\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GFS-13.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So is the Canadian&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Canadian-10.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-68868\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Canadian-10.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will have updates on WKYT-TV through the day and during our regular newscasts.\u00a0 KWC Updates will come your way later today.
