Good Wednesday to one and all. Areas of light snow are out there today as we continue to focus on a potential winter storm for Friday and Saturday. That means our Winter Storm THREAT continues with a possible upgrade later today.<\/p>\n

Periods of light snow and snow showers continue across the region today with light accumulations across central and eastern Kentucky. Coatings will be common with the chance for a few areas to pick up a half to 1″. Here’s a look at the area with the best chance or that…<\/p>\n

This snow has caused roads to become snow covered in several areas.<\/p>\n

Can we clear the skies tonight and early Thursday to allow temps to absolutely tank? That’s the big question in terms of the temps. Where skies clear, temps can hit 0 or blow, If you keep the clouds, your temps stay in the 10-15 degree range.<\/p>\n

The HRRR says northern and northwestern parts of Kentucky have the best chance at some clearing…<\/p>\n

A developing winter storm will target areas from Texas to the Mid-Atlantic states and that path includes Kentucky. Here’s your First Call For Snowfall with this system…<\/p>\n

I would expect Winter Storm Watches to go up today for much of our region. Those will show up on this map…<\/p>\n

The models are fairly consistent in showing a widespread 3″-6″ snowfall for Kentucky with higher amounts possible in the southeast…<\/p>\n

The GFS Ensembles only show 10-1 snowfall ratios. Adjust these numbers to match the Kuchera Ratio and you’re looking at a lot of 4″+ snows…<\/p>\n
