Good afternoon, everyone. Our next winter storm is about to roll across Kentucky, putting down several inches of snow. This won’t be anything like the last storm, but it will bring a hefty travel impact to our part of the world.<\/p>\n

A Winter Storm Warning is out for all of central and western Kentucky with a Winter Storm Watch for the north and east…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I would imagine much of that Winter Storm Watch gets upgraded to a Warning at some point this afternoon. Remember, the criteria is only 4″ of snow.<\/p>\n

This map will show the updated Warnings and Advisories…<\/p>\n

I have no changes to my snowfall map with a general 3″-6″ snowfall for many…<\/p>\n

The NAM fam shows much more snow with this system as it shows better interaction between our low across the south and a system sweeping into the Ohio Valley from the west. I’m still concerned that these two features play better together than I anticipate.<\/p>\n

That’s what the HI Res NAM and NAM are showing…<\/p>\n

The HRRR isn’t as robust, but still has a nice hit…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The GFS is trying to get the two features together a little more and it has me wondering if the progressive bias of the model is at play…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The EURO has more snow along the feature coming in from the west…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So does the Canadian…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Snow showers behind this won’t slow down until Saturday night with a calm and cold Sunday. That’s ahead of two arctic fronts sweeping in here from Sunday night through Wednesday. Each of those put down light accumulating snows…<\/p>\n

Bitterly cold temps show back up with our numbers going much colder than normal…<\/p>\n

Sub-zero temps are possible.<\/p>\n
