We continue to see temps trending up for the next few days, but another brutally cold setup is on the way late this weekend into next week. This pattern will also throw snow threats into the region.<\/p>\n<p>The first such threat comes Saturday night and Sunday as a wave of low pressure develops along an arctic front.\u00a0 The Canadian Models have been consistent in showing this low developing far enough west to bring a healthy snow into central and eastern Kentucky. The continue to do so&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Short Range Canadian through 7pm Sunday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Canadian-33.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69217\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Canadian-33.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The full-blown Canadian Model&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Canadian-2-10.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69216\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Canadian-2-10.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you know, the GFS had no such system whatsoever&#8230; Until now. It&#8217;s seeing the wave of low pressure, albeit farther east&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GFS-40.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69218\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GFS-40.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Still, the fact it&#8217;s just now seeing it makes you wonder if it now starts trending west to match the Canadian.<\/p>\n<p>The EURO is following the same route as the GFS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/EURO-32.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69224\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/EURO-32.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bitterly cold air with dangerous wind chills are likely behind this from Sunday night into the first half of next week. Wind chills Sunday night and Monday morning are just brutal&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/EURO-2-13.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69223\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/EURO-2-13.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The battle from the models continues into next week. The Canadian continues to show a major winter storm across the south Tuesday and Wednesday that delivers a glancing blow to our area&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Canadian-3-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69219\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Canadian-3-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS has the cold crushing that system into nothing, but it still shows a significant winter storm impacting us Thursday and Friday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GFS-2-10.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69220\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GFS-2-10.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The EURO wants nothing to do with either system for our region&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/EURO-3-7.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69226\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/EURO-3-7.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll see you guys back here for another update this evening.
