Good afternoon, everyone. It’s an ugly day out there as we get set for another big blast of winter blowing in tonight and Sunday. This brings in a few to several inches of snow to areas of the state with bitterly cold air crashing in behind it.<\/p>\n

I don’t have a lot of time for this update, so let’s get into it.<\/p>\n

A Winter Weather Advisory is out for most of central and eastern Kentucky…<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

That should include northern Kentucky and go as far west as Interstate 65. They should also be ready to upgrade parts of eastern Kentucky into West Virginia to a Winter Storm Warning as snowfall totals of 4″ possible in a few spots.<\/p>\n

My snowfall forecast rolls on…<\/p>\n

The GFS now matches my forecast pretty darn well…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Canadian Models had been looking similar to the GFS and they still do for the most part, but they are down a bit in totals from prior runs…<\/p>\n

The NAM continues to be choppy…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The EURO really beefed up totals compared to earlier runs…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Regardless, there’s no model saying the Winter Weather Advisory shouldn’t include northern Kentucky and areas farther west. Not a single model suggests those areas are good to go.<\/p>\n

With gusty winds settling in, blowing snow may become an issue later Sunday and Sunday night.<\/p>\n

That gusty wind turns brutally cold with wind chills well below zero…<\/p>\n

Extreme Cold Warnings will likely go up soon.<\/p>\n
