Good Friday, everyone. July 4th of 2013 will go down as one of the wettest and coolest on record for much of the state. Rounds of heavy rain producing showers and storms rolled across the state and these look to continue into the weekend. That means our high water threat will continue, as well.<\/p>\n

Rainfall numbers from the 4th averaged 1″-4″ in many areas. Here’s a look at numbers from the Kentucky Mesonet…<\/p>\n

\"Rainfall<\/a><\/p>\n

The flow continues to come right off the Gulf of Mexico and this will bring additional showers and storms our way today. With a saturated ground, any additional rain will could cause high water issues. Rainfall today could top an inch or so in some areas.<\/p>\n

It’s looking more and more like a few more rounds of heavy rain producing showers and storms move our way tonight into Saturday and Sunday. The GFS shows some pretty good rainfall totals through the weekend…<\/p>\n

Those numbers mean the potential for flash flooding will be with us during this time.<\/p>\n

Can we catch a break from this pattern? Not really. Monday and Tuesday will feature lower chances for showers and storms, but we will still see some scattered action. The pattern for the middle and end of next week may fire up some bigger storms rolling in here from the west and northwest.<\/p>\n
