Friday continues to look like a VERY active severe weather day across Kentucky and surrounding areas. Multiple rounds of strong to severe likely during this time.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quick breakdown:<\/p>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;applyListStyleFromLevel&quot;:false,&quot;unorderedStyleType&quot;:2}\">\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">One round of strong to severe storms may impact parts of our region late tonight and early Friday morning.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">The prime time for severe weather for central and eastern Kentucky is from 3pm Friday through 2am Saturday.<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"\">Waves of severe storms will race from west to east across the state during this time.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"\">SIGNIFICANT wind damage is possible with these storms.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"\">\u00a0A few tornadoes will also be possible with the chance for a few strong tornadoes in western and central Kentucky.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"\">Large hail of greater than golf ball sized will also be noted.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"\">Flash flooding will also become an issue in some areas.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Machine Learning Model\u00a0 (AI) shows Friday&#8217;s greatest tornado risk right on top of us&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ANALOGS-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-71280\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ANALOGS-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ANALOGS-1.png 675w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ANALOGS-1-300x219.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The potential for widespread wind damage is extremely high&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ANALOGS-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-71281\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ANALOGS-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"672\" height=\"507\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ANALOGS-2.png 672w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/ANALOGS-2-300x226.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 672px) 100vw, 672px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Storm Prediction Center continues to get more aggressive with the severe threat and they now have a Moderate Risk out for much of Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody2.png?1747244467\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody2.png?1747244467\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I expect the Moderate Risk to expand farther east with future updates.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of the tornado risk, the SPC is highlighting central and western Kentucky for the potential for a few strong tornadoes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody2_TORN.png?1747244491\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody2_TORN.png?1747244491\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The potential for damaging winds is crazy high&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody2_WIND.png?1747244729\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody2_WIND.png?1747244729\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Large hail should also show up in many areas\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody2_HAIL.png?1747244734\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody2_HAIL.png?1747244734\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll be on WKYT-TV for any severe weather coverage.
