The cold front of Saturday turned into our first underachiever of the summer for many areas. This system bucked the wet trend of the past several months across central and eastern Kentucky, but it still has quite a bit of juice left in the tank. That means showers and thunderstorms will be around today into Monday as we kick off a busy week.<\/p>\n<p>The cold front is slowing down right on top of the state today and will be the focal point for rounds of showers and storms. Here&#8217;s the setup through Monday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Special1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7139\" alt=\"Special\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Special1.png\" width=\"569\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Special1.png 569w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Special1-300x204.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 569px) 100vw, 569px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Any storm that goes up will feature ton of lightning to go along with very heavy rainfall. The heavy rains may lead to local high water issues for some areas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" usemap=\"#largemap\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A couple more fronts will make a run at us this week with a few more rounds of showers and storms. This active pattern will keep temps around normal or slightly below normal during the week.<\/p>\n<p>All the models are now jumping on a huge push of cool air for next weekend. The European Model even takes on a winter &#8220;look&#8221; with a storm tracking across the Ohio Valley into the northeast&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Euro4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7140\" alt=\"Euro\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Euro4.png\" width=\"244\" height=\"878\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Euro4.png 244w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Euro4-83x300.png 83w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 244px) 100vw, 244px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That is pretty wild to see for the final weekend of July, but it fits what the weekly runs of the CFS have been showing for a while&#8230; cooler than normal for late July into early August.
