Rounds of showers and thunderstorms continue to rumble across the region, causing a few issues along the way. Temps are coming down and those numbers drop even more behind a cold front set to arrive on the first day of July.<\/p>\n<p>As expected, Friday was another day of strong to severe storms across the region. Lexington took it on the chin once again, but this time on the other end of town from the Thursday storm. Pockets of damaging wind will show up again. Here&#8217;s today&#8217;s Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody1.png?1750881756\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These storms will also contain tremendous amounts of rain that can cause local flash flooding concerns once again.<\/p>\n<p>Scattered showers and storms will be noted again Sunday with an increase coming Monday and Tuesday. That&#8217;s when a cold front sweeps across the region with much better air and mainly dry skies as we go into the 2nd and 3rd of July.<\/p>\n<p>This GFS animation starts Sunday morning and goes through Wednesday morning&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-11.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-71726\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-11.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m still torn on the 4th of July as some scattered stuff invades the west during the day. This is ahead of additional rounds of showers and storms returning over the weekend and likely hanging around into the following week.<\/p>\n<p>The latest CFS weeklies show a wetter than normal pattern for week 3 and 4, which would be during the middle of July&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/CFS-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-71724\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/CFS-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"971\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/CFS-2.png 605w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/CFS-2-187x300.png 187w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 605px) 100vw, 605px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That same model suggests normal to below normal temps during the same time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/CFS.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-71725\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/CFS.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"615\" height=\"949\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/CFS.png 615w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/CFS-194x300.png 194w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As we look ahead to the entire month of July, the GFS Extended shows a nice pipeline of above normal rains from the Gulf to the Ohio Valley&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-21.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-71722\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-21.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"965\" height=\"758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-21.png 965w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-21-300x236.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-21-768x603.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 965px) 100vw, 965px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>None of that is shocking considering we are about to wrap up the wettest first half of a year in Kentucky history.<\/p>\n<p>That same run of the GFS Extended shows near normal temps through the same period&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-2-5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-71721\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-2-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"965\" height=\"758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-2-5.png 965w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-2-5-300x236.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GFS-2-5-768x603.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 965px) 100vw, 965px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the average anomaly and we will get to that with periods of above normal temps and periods of below normal temps.
