Good Thursday, everyone. It’s feeling much better across Kentucky as the overall weather pattern starts to change. With unseasonably cool temps on the way, I’m issuing the first of its kind Pumpkin Spice THREAT for early next week.<\/p>\n

This threat will soon be upgraded to a full-blown ALERT as the Pumpkin Spice season gets started a little early this year.<\/p>\n

Multiple days with highs in the 70s and lows that may flirt with records qualify for this special threat…<\/p>\n

Before we get there, temps today are generally low and middle 80s with a mix of sun and clouds. Winds out of the northeast will be gusty from time to time and there’s the small chance for a shower or storm to go up in the east and southeast.<\/p>\n

Friday looks pretty good with similar sky conditions, giving us a nice start to the high school football season.’<\/p>\n

Saturday finds temps jumping up on a strong southwest wind ahead of our big cold front sweeping in from the northwest. Ahead of this, a separate band of moisture will be ahead of this and will produce showers and a few storms in the southeast.<\/p>\n

Scattered showers and storms will then accompany the cold front Saturday night and Sunday…<\/p>\n

The air coming in behind this is pretty darn cool for the end of August. Watch the well below normal temps show up in this animation that starts Sunday and goes through Thursday of next week…<\/p>\n

The GFS Ensembles offer strong support to the operational GFS…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Below normal temps are also a good bet into Labor Day Weekend, but probably won’t be as cool. The GFS Ensembles look like this from next Friday through Labor Day…<\/p>\n

Will that be accompanied by some rain? We will have to wait and see, but a system may try to move in from the northwest.<\/p>\n

The EURO AI was the first to see these deep troughs diving into the east and it sees another fairly deep trough in early September…<\/p>\n

In the tropics… Hurricane Erin continues to deliver a glancing blow to the east coast as it turns toward the northeast…<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This storm will really zip well out to sea on Friday…<\/p>\n

The two systems likely developing behind this are there, but don’t really float my boat with any threat to the USA…<\/p>\n
