Scattered showers and storms are ramping up across the region today and will really crank on Tuesday. That&#8217;s when heavy rains may cause local high water issues across Kentucky as a fall cold front sweeps through.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scattered showers and storms increase today, especially across central and western Kentucky.<\/li>\n<li>Locally heavy rains will show up from time to time, but this isn&#8217;t especially widespread.<\/li>\n<li>Rounds of showers and storms move in tonight and last through Tuesday night. These will be fairly widespread.<\/li>\n<li>These storms will be loaded with torrential rains and can put down a quick few inches of rain.<\/li>\n<li>Overall, a general 1&#8243;-3&#8243; of rain looks likely through Wednesday morning. A few spots will come up shy of this, but a few areas may go above and beyond.<\/li>\n<li>Local high-water issues are possible at any point through Wednesday morning.<\/li>\n<li>These storms will also be pretty loud and may contain gusty winds, but severe weather isn&#8217;t anticipated.<\/li>\n<li>Lingering showers hang around into Wednesday with this stuff winding down from northwest to southeast.<\/li>\n<li>Cool fall winds will blow behind our cold front.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Weather Prediction Center is highlighting central and western Kentucky for excessive rains today&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/exper\/eromap\/statemaps\/KY_Day1.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That area then focuses across the rest of the state on Tuesday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/exper\/eromap\/statemaps\/KY_Day2.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Highs generally run in the 60s starting Wednesday.
