Calm weather continues across our part of the world, but this appears to be the calm before the storms. A series of fall storm systems looks to arrive in the region over the next few weeks with the first sweeping through this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>A potent storm system rolls from the Rockies and into the northern Plains this week. That drags a cold front toward us as another low pressure develops along the boundary. This low then spins into our region from the west over the weekend&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/CB-SPECIAL.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-72876\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/CB-SPECIAL.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"940\" height=\"788\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/CB-SPECIAL.png 940w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/CB-SPECIAL-300x251.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/CB-SPECIAL-768x644.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That low will spawn all kinds of showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of the low from late Saturday through the first half of Sunday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-11.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-72878\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-11.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"984\" height=\"808\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That run of the GFS is spiting out a swatch of healthy rain amounts&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-2-4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-72880\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-2-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"965\" height=\"757\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-2-4.png 965w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-2-4-300x235.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-2-4-768x602.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 965px) 100vw, 965px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That may be a tad overcooked, but thunderstorms will be able to put down torrential rains in some areas.<\/p>\n<p>This looks like a windy storm system with some pretty good wind gusts ahead of the low and right behind it. The models are seeing this potential&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-72879\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"963\" height=\"755\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-10.png 963w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-10-300x235.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GFS-10-768x602.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 963px) 100vw, 963px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The EURO has a swath of some big time winds behind the departing low&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/EURO-12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-72881\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/EURO-12.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"965\" height=\"754\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/EURO-12.png 965w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/EURO-12-300x234.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/EURO-12-768x600.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 965px) 100vw, 965px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the wind and rain, some of the storms could even be strong or severe late Saturday into Saturday night. The best chance is across the west and that&#8217;s where the Storm Prediction Center is already highlighting the threat&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/partners\/outlooks\/state\/images\/KY_swody5_PROB.png?1760346261\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Below normal temps push in behind this boundary with the potential for another system to follow that up a few days later.<\/p>\n<p>This pattern may very well bring frost with it at some point next week.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll throw you another update this evening.
