I told you we were in for a few “wow” weather days across our part of the world. Temps over the past few days are straight out of the first week of October. Alas, it is still August and the tropics are cranking up. We’ll look at that and take a peek at what’s coming down the road.

Today is likely to start with record lows in many areas. Readings from the upper 40s to low 50s will be likely. A few spots may see temps in the mid 40s. Say it with me… Wow! Be sure to post the low temperature from where you’re from and I may use it on WKYT.

Highs today will hit the middle 70s for many with mainly sunny skies. A few clouds will increase across the south during the afternoon and evening. Those clouds will eventually produce some scattered showers and storms by Friday…

The threat for showers and storms will be with us this weekend into early next week. This is the time we will need to keep an eye on what happens in the Gulf of Mexico. A tropical system may develop over the next few days. IF it gets toward the northern gulf, it COULD have an impact on our weather. The National Hurricane Center is watching that system and another out in the Atlantic…

That’s a sure sign the heart of hurricane season is getting closer.

Our temps next week will get closer to normal and humidity levels will really increase. That trend doesn’t look like it will last as the CFS continues to show another big push of cool air for the end of the month into early September…

That same model continues to point toward more of the same for September…

Make it a great Thursday and take care.

Good Thursday, everyone.
