The weather of the past few days has been nothing short of amazing for the middle of August. While we keep the cooler than normal temps for a few more days, we will increase the humidity levels. That will help fuel scattered showers and thunderstorms as we head into the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>A few of those may get going today&#8230; especially across the southern half of the state. Regional radar will be tracking the action&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" usemap=\"#largemap\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Temps today will mainly hang around the mid and upper 70s for afternoon highs.<\/p>\n<p>The threat for showers and storms will increase as we head into Saturday and Sunday. That&#8217;s when some moisture from the Gulf of Mexico joins the party. We may also be dealing with a developing tropical system that takes aim at the northern gulf states. The future radar from the NAM shows the storm threat around here and the possible tropical troubles&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/NAM3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7315\" alt=\"NAM\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/NAM3.png\" width=\"610\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/NAM3.png 610w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/NAM3-300x223.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The wild card will obviously be the possible tropical system in the Gulf. If it does develop and roll in the direction the NAM is saying&#8230; it could easily mean higher rain chances around here early next week. Believe it when you see it, though.
