Our weather pattern is slowly evolving into one that is more typical of this time of year&#8230;. especially into next week. Temps and humidity levels will be on the rise into next week and those two will bring along a familiar friend&#8230; a daily threat for showers and storms.<\/p>\n<p>We have the threat for a storm or two out there today as moisture continues to lift northward from the Gulf of Mexico. Here&#8217;s regional radar for your viewing pleasure&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" usemap=\"#largemap\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nTemps today will top out around the 80 degree mark under a mix of sun and clouds. The threat for showers and storms will increase as we roll into Sunday and we could see some heavy downpours during this time. The GFS shows the ramp up of rain&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/GFS12.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7321\" alt=\"GFS\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/GFS12.png\" width=\"522\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/GFS12.png 522w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/GFS12-300x236.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>About a week ago, I mentioned the pattern would likely produce a cutoff area of low pressure. That&#8217;s what&#8217;s going on this weekend&#8230;<a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Euro4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7322\" alt=\"Euro\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Euro4.png\" width=\"392\" height=\"632\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Euro4.png 392w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Euro4-186x300.png 186w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 392px) 100vw, 392px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That will help funnel in some of the moisture from the gulf. That weakness in the atmosphere will hang around through next week and that will keep us warm and muggy with that daily threat for a shower or storm.<\/p>\n<p>On a MUCH broader scale is what&#8217;s going on out in the Pacific. The waters off the west coast north toward Alaska are warmer than normal. If we can keep this warm anomaly into fall and winter&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SST.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7323\" alt=\"SST\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SST.png\" width=\"491\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SST.png 491w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SST-300x191.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 491px) 100vw, 491px\" \/><\/a>That could mean more of a ridge in the jet stream across the western part of North America. That would certainly help promote a downstream trough across our part of the world. Moral of the story&#8230; that setup would give us a better chance for colder than normal temperatures.
