<\/p>\nGood Saturday, everyone. It’s the final day of January and we are sending the month out on a bitterly cold note. We even have a few snow showers and squalls rolling through the region. ow about the start of February? I’ll take a look into that.<\/p>\n
Our day starts with a winter storm continuing across far southeastern Kentucky. Several inches of snow have already fallen in several areas with a little more going up in those areas today. A Winter Storm Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory continue for a few areas…<\/p>\n

Temps this morning range from -5 to 5 above in several areas with wind chills going much lower. -10 to -20 will be possible at times across the north and north central. Everyone else has to settle for -5 to -10.<\/p>\n
Wind chills today struggle to get above zero as a strong northerly wind flow continues. This flow also picks up moisture from the Great Lakes, resulting in snow showers and snow squalls…<\/p>\n
Light accumulations will coat roads from time to time and reduce visibility to near zero in the heavier squalls.<\/p>\n Overall, this is a harsh winters day to end January.<\/p>\n February looks to start out on a bitterly cold note with wind chills nearing -10 or so in the morning. A few leftover flakes will also be flying before a mix of sun and clouds take control during the afternoon.<\/p>\n Our next system of interest is one Tuesday into Wednesday. The track on this looks to bring the fence in here with snow and a mix possible.<\/p>\n The Canadian is trying to dig this in a little more…<\/p>\n The GFS zips it through…<\/p>\n Deep troughs start to return by next weekend into the second week of the month…<\/p>\n We’ve been looking down the road via the EURO Weeklies and they’ve been showing this harsh pattern hanging with us into February. The GFS Extended agrees and shows much colder than normal temps…<\/p>\n That would give us all three winter months averaging below normal for temps.<\/p>\n Updates come later today.
