Good Sunday to one and all. We’re putting the wraps on the first weekend of June with a few storms rumbling in from the west. These storms will increase over the next few days, bringing a local flash flood threat to Kentucky and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

Much of our Sunday is dry with temps well into the mid and upper 80s once again. You’ll notice more humidity out there today and that will lead to a scattered storms going up with the best chance in the north and west.<\/p>\n

Rounds of storms then become much more common for Monday and Tuesday as everything starts to focus a bit farther east. Areas of flash flood producing storms may show up, but the models aren’t really designed to pinpoint exact amounts or locations.<\/p>\n

Still, they’re throwing out some good signals with the rain amounts through Tuesday night…<\/p>\n

The Weather Prediction Center is keeping an eye on the Excessive Rainfall potential for our region over the next several days\u2026<\/p>\n

Temps for the week ahead are above normal with a lot of tropical humidity helping fuel the heavy rain producing storms. Another round of some storms should show up next weekend ahead of a deep trough digging into the central and eastern parts of the United States.<\/p>\n

At the same time, something tropical may try go spin up across the eastern Gulf. This animation from the GFS for next weekend into early the following week looks like something in late September instead of the middle of June…<\/p>\n

As mentioned, the next few weeks are likely producing a lot of rain for our region and much of the eastern half of the country. The average rainfall forecast from the GFS Ensembles looks like this…<\/p>\n

Remember, that’s the average of 31 members making up the GFS Ensembles.<\/p>\n

Those same 31 members get extended deeper in time once a day and they’re showing above normal rainfall here through July 9th…<\/p>\n

The EURO Ensembles are comprised of 101 members and run a few weeks farther out in time. They also show above normal rainfall through July 21st…<\/p>\n
