Our big storm system is still on track to have a significant impact on our weather as we head into Halloween. This is a potent storm that will bring a lot of rain, wind,\u00a0 and the <strong>potential<\/strong> of strong and severe storms.<\/p>\n<p>We have a nice surge of milder air coming in ahead of this system. Temps will hit the 60s today with the threat for a shower or thunderstorm going up. Here&#8217;s regional radar&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" usemap=\"#largemap\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday will warm close to 70 degrees in some areas as scattered showers and thunderstorms return&#8230; especially in the west and north. Those will impact temps.<\/p>\n<p>The real action begins on Thursday as low pressure rolls from the plains states into the Great Lakes and drags a cold front across the state&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/GFS16.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7829\" alt=\"GFS\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/GFS16.png\" width=\"490\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/GFS16.png 490w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/GFS16-300x211.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 490px) 100vw, 490px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quick breakdown of the day&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Widespread rain and thunderstorms will work eastward through the day into Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Heavy rainfall of 1&#8243;-2&#8243; will be likely for much of the state.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; There is a tremendous amount of wind energy available. Wind gusts approaching 40mph will be a good possibility.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Can we get some strong or severe storms? The potential is there&#8230; especially across the western part of the state. The latest severe weather threat for Thursday from the SPC:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/outlook\/day3otlk_0730.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Timing will be everything in determining how much strong or severe storm action we get into. Damaging wind will be the primary threat.<\/p>\n<p>Leftover showers scoot out of here early Friday as we await the arrival of another cold front over the weekend. That one has a quick hitting shot of cold air behind it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Euro9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7830\" alt=\"Euro\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Euro9.png\" width=\"352\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Euro9.png 352w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Euro9-246x300.png 246w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That may have a few rain showers ahead of it on Saturday. There is still a small chance for a few flakes to mix in across the east Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Another big storm system is likely to roll our way by the middle of next week as our yo yo pattern gets going.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I will continue to monitor the Halloween storm system and have updates as needed.
