Our final full weekend of October is off and running on another fantastic note. This pattern is stubborn as all get out and likely won’t change until sometime Halloween Weekend, setting the stage for a more active November.

One of the things that may keep this pattern pretty much locked in place is the possibility of another system developing off the southeastern seaboard. We talked about this potential several days back, so it’s not much of a shock.

As of this writing, the National Hurricane Center doesn’t have any potential systems highlighted for the next 7 days. If that changes, it will show up on this map…

Complicating matters even more is Hurricane Vance SLOWLY churning toward the Pacific Coast of Mexico…

That’s an incredibly slow-moving hurricane with some of that energy potentially getting entrained into a system spinning from the west Halloween Weekend. Given the uncertainties with the tropics, the models are having a tough time on when and how that all happens.

All of this leads us into what looks like an incredibly active month of November. The EURO Weeklies have done a REALLY good job with the fall pattern we’ve seen as they were forecasting dry and above normal temps since late Summer.

Recent runs of the EURO Weeklies continue to show November turning very active with well above normal precipitation across much of the country, including Kentucky…

I’m going to keep driving home the potential I’m seeing for a severe weather event and a snow event for our region at different points in the month.

The continued signal toward a winter look shows up on the Weeklies as we head into the second half of the month into the start of December. The Weeklies only run through December 7th, but you can see that trough getting established…

The GFS Extended doesn’t go out as far in time as the Weeklies, but you can see this similar pattern becoming established through Thanksgiving…

That’s probably not an exceptionally cold pattern, but it just has to be cold enough to make winter weather lovers smile early this season.

Make it a great day and take care.

Good Saturday, folks.
